The Vast Wasteland

Maryland Public Television is at it again, showing the same pile of crap like "Ageless Defense" they did from last month for their monthly pledge drives. I have to wonder, are they're doing this for everyone or just for the senior AWASPs they donate. Even though they do give out a lot of money, once the pledge drives done, MPT is back to their usual mostly safe programing. While their sales pitches always show "Make a Difference" I don't see much difference in their programing.

There's little programing produced for the Maryland public. I'm still seeing britcom imports from the 70s while there are so many other British and international programing MPT or PBS can import. And still there's no real programing for teens ages 13-17. Basically, MPT pledge drives are more like a business than a public service and another great reason we need a independent source of funding, that comes directly from the people.
